About the Artist

Whipped Bakeshop is the brainchild of Philadelphia pastry artist Zoë Lukas. Zoë's lifelong love of baking was born as a child among her dessert-loving family. Her father traveled frequently and was always in search of the finest bakeries in America, bringing home the tastiest treats he could find. Zoë tried them all. Meanwhile, her mother was an incredible baker in her own right, and her brother Jeff became a successful chef.

Zoë went on to earn a degree in painting from the Maryland Institute College of Art, and her paintings have appeared in numerous shows. Zoë's love of art and baking combined when she moved to Philadelphia in 2003 and worked for three of the top bakeries in the city, all the while continuing to create her own treats for friends and family. In 2007, she decided to take the plunge and start Whipped Bakeshop. Zoë vows never to work in a cubicle again.

“Lucky for us, Zoë Lukas of Whipped Bakeshop is now delivering her from-scratch cupcakes, cookies, and cakes right to your door.

These creations look as great as they taste. With a BFA in painting, Lukas can make everything from a zoo-themed cake with animals to an intricately detailed replica of Leonardo da Vinci's Vitruvian Man out of chocolate cake. She's even made a kick-ass cookie reproduction of the LOVE sculpture.”

“Local baker/artisan Zoë Lukas has taken the famous image, rendered it in royal frosting on the top of a very large cookie. Thus the LOVE cookie is born. I haven't seen one in person yet, but from the pictures it looks like a true replica as well as a tasty dessert. Yum!”

“If you would like to feast your eyes on more of Zoe’s incredible creations, just click this Sweets by Zoë link to view her Flickr photos. Now Fair Warning: these are so luscious you’ll be bug-eyed; there are rumors about people who stared too long at the yummies they actually started gnawing on their keyboards. True story.”

“Well it's been awhile since we've seen any Yoda inspired delicacies, but at long last comes another, this time in cookie form. They were created by dessert maker Zoë Lukas to celebrate the upcoming Star Wars exhibit at the Franklin Institute Science Museum in Philadelphia. I'd eat one. Hell, I'd eat a bunch of them as long as they're not Yoda flavored.”

“It ought be no secret that at Camp Cakespy, we love when cake and art overlap. But even so, we nearly collapsed from pleasure overload when we recently discovered Whipped Bakeshop, a Philadelphia-based special order bakery which specializes in cookies, cakes and treats which transcend the line between mere baked good and art--literally. However, between fainting spells over their Paris Map and iconic LOVE cookies, we found time to catch up with proprietress (and trained painter) Zoë Lukas--here's what we learned about the advantages of baking with a BFA in Fine Art, the trials and tribulations of frosting as a medium, and what Philadelphia specialties simply cannot be missed.”

How do I order sweets from Whipped Bakeshop?

Please fill out our order form to get the process started. Since most of our work is custom, we'll contact you to talk about your dessert needs. Once we know what you have in mind, we'll send you a hand-drawn sketch of your design as well as an estimate of cost. If you like what you see (and we think you will), you'll give us the go-ahead and pay through PayPal. After that, the only thing left to do is count the hours until you're chowing down!

How much advance notice do you need for orders?

The sooner you contact us the better. We generally need a minimum of three months notice for wedding cakes, but we will try our best to accommodate you if you're in a pinch. Please allow at least two weeks for (smaller orders of) cookies and cupcakes. You can't rush perfection!

How much do your creations cost?

Almost all of our desserts are custom-made and decorated to order. Since each item is one-of-a-kind, we price each order separately based upon ingredients and the hours required for decoration. Wedding cakes begin at $5 per serving, and final cost depends on how elaborately you want your cake decorated. We can work with most budgets, please contact us to discuss your needs. Our custom cookies and cupcakes range from $3.50 to $6 each, depending on complexity and packaging. We offer discounts for orders of over 100 cookies or 4 dozen cupcakes.

What forms of payment do you take?

Whipped Bakeshop uses PayPal invoicing, and we also accept checks, which must be received 2 weeks in advance of your order.

Is there sales tax?

Yes, Whipped Bakeshop charges 7% sales tax on all orders.

Do you deliver?

Delivery is available (see below) in the Philadelphia area, and in some cases we ship our sweets. If you are beyond the 15-mile delivery radius, and still want us to bring the sugar rush to you, contact us so we can discuss the possibilities.

Delivery Costs:
Up to 5 miles from zip 19128: $5
5 - 10 miles from zip 19128: $10
10 - 15 miles from zip 19128: $15

What desserts are available for shipping?

Whipped Bakeshop's decorated cookies are available for shipping across the country. We need at least two week's notice for custom cookie orders. Large orders (more than 2 dozen cookies) require at least three week's notice. Shipping costs depend on what you order, as all of the cookies are custom and weigh different amounts, and may need to be split into more than one box.

Can you place a photograph or corporate logo on a product?

Yes! We can transform your image into an edible decal that can be placed on our cupcakes or sugar cookies. You will need to e-mail your logo as a jpeg attachment at a resolution of 300 dpi. You can e-mail zoe@whippedbakeshop for more information or to place an order. We print your image on edible paper with a special printer that uses food coloring as the ink. Since we are working with food materials, it may be difficult to match exact colors to your logo or image, but we can get pretty close.

Can you assist with business gift giving and large orders?

We would love to provide assistance with creative gift ideas, custom orders or just about anything cake or cookie related.

What size cake will I need?

Below is the general serving guide that we use at the bakeshop. Of course, cakes can be tiered for any event for a more impressive display!

6" cake serves 4-8 people
8" cake serves 8-16 people
10" cake serves 16-24 people
12" cake serves 24-36 people
14" cake serves 36-50 people
16" cake serves 50+ people

***Whipped Bakeshop assumes no responsibility for rioting when there isn't enough delicious cake for second helpings.

I don't trust skinny chefs. Do Zoë's treats really taste any good?

Zoë wears special NASA designed chef-wear that hides the extra pounds she has gained from taste-testing her own recipes.

What is your return policy?
